Carpet fabrics are most likely to accumulate dust because of their thicker longitude and weft lines and larger gaps. A small amount of dust escapes into the indoor air, polluting the clean air. In winter, the indoor temperature rise after heating, these dust will change their original properties and become a gaseous substance that is more harmful to the human body.

In recent years, a disease caused by carpets has appeared in Japan, and most of the patients are infants. Its main symptom is that the fever does not go back, and the effect is not great after taking medicine. Then the tongue swelled and both hands peeled, leading to death in severe cases. This is caused by microbial “ticks” that breed in the carpet. This microbe feeds on shedding cell shavings from human skin and can make people sick once it enters the lungs or bronchi. How to clean carpets?

Vacuum

Vacuuming is the most basic task of carpet maintenance and must be done every day. It is best to vacuum each part twice. The first time is to suck against the pile of the carpet. Although it is strong, it can vacuum thoroughly. The second time is to suck along the carpet pile to restore the original pile guide. , To avoid pile disorder, causing carpet color difference. It should be emphasized that no matter how many times the carpet is vacuumed, the last time it must be sucked down the pile.

Carpets in public areas should be vacuumed with a vacuum device with a rotary pile vibrator for daily vacuum cleaning. The vibrator usually includes one or more brush strips, which can more effectively remove dust on the surface or deep in the carpet. Starting from the day the carpet is used, make sure to vacuum thoroughly every day. Do not have the idea of thoroughly vacuuming the carpet tomorrow. Once the dust is accumulated, it is difficult to remove it by daily vacuuming.

The carpet is a woolen textile, and after the down-cutting process, it is normal for new carpets to have a small amount of floating hair and sheared hairs when used. Therefore, new carpets should be vacuumed twice a day, morning and evening, the floating hair can be eliminated after one month.

Carpet cleaning

Regular washing of carpets in different areas can restore the original appearance of the carpet and extend its service life. There are two basic methods for carpet cleaning, one is dry cleaning, and the other is wet cleaning. No matter which method is used to wash the carpet, it is only suitable for professionals with good vocational training to do this work.

Dry cleaning

There are two methods for dry cleaning carpets:

*Foam dry cleaning

It is one of the most common carpet surface foam cleaning. The foam dry cleaning machine uses a rotating brush and an implanted wet vacuum nozzle to spray a large amount of detergent on the carpet pile. Under the action of the rolling brush, after the detergent cleaning the pile, use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the washing foam and suspended dust.

*Dry extraction method

In this method, a mixture of solvent, emulsifier, water and detergent is sprayed on the surface of the carpet manually, brushed into the carpet pile by washing equipment, and rotated for 30 minutes, and then suck up the detergent and dust.

Dry cleaning is a surface cleaning, which can effectively restore the surface of the carpet, but it does not remove the dirt hidden in the carpet. It must be cleaned thoroughly.

Wet wash

When the oil stains and other sticky substances on the carpet are obviously accumulated, and the accumulation of dust and dirt has affected the color of the carpet and the resilience of the carpet pile, and the dry cleaning method cannot be eliminated, the carpet should be wet washed, that is, thoroughly cleaning.

There are two ways for wet cleaning:

*Squirt cleaning method

The method is to spray hot water and detergent onto the carpet under pressure. Under the action of water and detergent, a carpet washing equipment equipped with a rotating or oscillating brush is used to separate the dirt from the fibers and then suck it away.

*Steam cleaning method

This is a very effective way to remove the dirt embedded in the pile of the carpet and the dirt on the surface of the carpet. It is the most thorough carpet washing method. Also called extraction cleaning method. Use a special steam dry carpet machine to release a steam solvent composed of a mixture of water and cleaning fluid sprayed on the carpet, and then agitated by a mechanical swinging brush, so that the dirt is separated from the carpet fiber and suspended in the solvent, and is absorbed by an implanted vacuum head cleared.

How to choose carpet?

Color and Style

You should always remember to bring swatches of fabric from drapes and furniture, wallpaper samples, and paint chips with you when you are selecting carpet. That way you can consider a range of colors that will match your existing decoration. Remember that color can also affect your mood. Warmer colors often make you feel energized while cooler tones provide a sense of calm.

When considering color, remember the lighting in the carpet store is not the same as the lighting conditions in your home. Ask the dealer if they have a lighting box in which to view the carpet, or ask if you can take a sample of the carpet home.

We need to consider the following issues before purchasing

  • How much use will the room get? (This is a consideration because a heavily used room may not be the best place to install white or very light-colored carpet.)
  • Are kids going to be playing down on the floor? Or is it a formal room that doesn’t get much use? (Again, lighter colors may create more maintenance. If we have kids playing on the floor, then it is better to choose the ones don’t hide dirt easily.)
  • Is it a small room or a large room? (Smaller rooms can be made to feel larger by selecting a lighter colored carpet while larger rooms can be made to feel cozier by using a mid-to-darker colored carpet.)
  • What are the lighting conditions in the room? (Rooms with plenty of natural light will show the true color of the carpet while rooms on the north side of a house may need a lighter shade of carpet to keep them from feeling darker than they are.)

Quality

Check the label, handle the carpet and ask the below points about these signs of quality.

At least a 34- to 40-oz. surface weight. This is the number of ounces of fiber per square yard. The range is generally from 20 to 80, and the higher the number, the heavier and more resilient the carpet. The heavier surface weight means the more material are used to make it.

A tuft twist of 5 or higher. Twist is the number of times the tufts are twisted together in a 1-in. length. After twisting, the yarn will have certain physical and mechanical properties such as strength, elasticity, elongation, luster, hand feeling, etc. The higher the number, the yarn strength increased, the more durable the carpet.

A density rating of 2,000 or more. The quality of the carpet is actually related to the density and weight of your plush fiber in addition to your choice of material and processing technology. Density is determined by the thickness of the fibers and how tightly packed they are. The thicker and heavier they are, the better quality the carpet and the less susceptible to crushing. Bend the carpet sample backward (Photo). If you can see the backing easily, it’s a low-density (lower quality) carpet.

At least a 10-year “texture retention” warranty. This covers how well the fibers return to their original shape after being walked on. It comes from the style in which fibers are looped, twisted or cut. This determines the look and feel of the carpet and plays a large role in its durability.
